
Baby killed, Mullaithivu GA among the injured in the SLA midnight shelling
Indiscriminate and widespread shelling by the SLA at 1.00am last night left a baby dead and 16 people injured. Shells fell inside the Mullaithivu hospital, GA’s residence and doctor’s quarters and adjacent villages within a 10 kilometre radius.
An 18 month old baby was killed on the spot and among the 16 injured are Mullaithivu Government Agent, Ms Emelda Sukumar, and Ms Renuka, wife of Dr Sanmukarajah the Chief of Mulliathivu hospital. Shells fell and exploded in the villages of Neeravipiddi, Uduppukulam, Kumarapuram and Thanneeruttu, surrounding the Mullaithivu hospital. Shelling and bombing along the eastern coast day before yesterday also caused widespread damages and injuries to civilians.
