
LTTE Constitutional Affairs Committee meets in Geneva
The Constitutional Affairs Committee of the LTTE had its inaugural session today 1st October 2004 in Geneva chaired by Mr. S. P. Tamilselvan, Head of the Political Wing. Constitutional and legal experts, who were part of the body that formulated the ISGA proposals, participated in this confab.
 At the outset Mr. Tamilselvan welcomed the Committee and requested LTTE Chief Negotiator Dr. Anton Balasingham to brief the Committee on the current political situation in the context of the peace process. The Chief Negotiator dealt at length on the stalemate situation and expressed concern over the delay in the delivery of urgent humanitarian needs of the people in the war devastated NorthEast region. On conclusion of his address, the committee went into deliberations with contributions from the participants.
After lunch the Swiss Foreign Ministry and the EDA delegation lead by Ambassador Rodolphe S. Imhoof, Head of the Political Affairs 11, Asia/Oceania addressed the Committee stressing on the importance of taking forward the peace process without any further delay, assuring Switzerland's fullest co-operation for the peace process and humanitarian assistance.
The Political Affairs Committee will continue its deliberations for the second day tomorrow 2nd October 2004.
