Tamil Eelam Police Head Quarters in Kilinochchi
Inaugural opening by Tamil National Leader V.Prabaharan.
The Tamil National Leader V. Prabaharan ceremonially opened the Tamil Eelam Police Head quarters complex today, Sunday 7th September 2003 at 06.40 am in Kilinochchi. After lighting of the traditional oil lamp, the Tamil National flag and the Tamil Eelam police flag were hoisted by Mr. Pottu Amman and the Tamil Eelam Police Chief Mr.P. Nadesan respectively.
In his inaugural speech, the Tamil National leader Mr.V.Prabaharan said inter alia: "A nation gets its nobility only when its society attains upliftment; human life in that nation reaches the peak. Societal interaction and relationship evolves out of this attainment. Such an interlinked social life of a nation is in no way a concession bestowed upon its people; nor is it an automatic evolution with passage of time. However this is not something that cannot be achieved by humanity. We have to set our goals accordingly, create a conducive ground and resolutely fight, if necessary, to achieve this noble goal. Thus, as one of the steps in the right direction, the Tamil Eelam police force was institutionalised a decade ago in our land. The ground situation then was grave and crisis-ridden. The Sinhala regime's genocidal war in our soil was being prosecuted with vengeance at this time. An economic embargo was rigidly enforced and there was scarcity for food and all other essentials for livelihood. Law and order was in complete disarray. Heinous acts against humanity were on the increase. Above all the Sinhala chauvinistic regime engaged itself in manifold attempts to destroy our cherished collective social life and through that tried to erase our existence itself.
It is under such grave circumstances that we institutionalised the Tamil Eelam police service in our soil to preserve and protect unity and intergrity achieved through the sacrifices of several thousands of our fighters. This is an important turning point in our liberation struggle; an important milestone in the structuring of our homeland. Changes detrimental to humanity have become the world order today. Acts of violence are on the increase even in the developed and rich nations. Killings, robberies and sexual crimes are on the increase day by day. Those nations are unable to bring down the crime rate. One sees a rapid increase of offences, offenders and prisons to house them in. Contrary to this, lack of personnel and wherewithal notwithstanding, our Tamil Eelam Police service is able to interact with the people and build a sense of rapport with them. With the unstinted support of the people, our police force is able to effetively keep crime away from the society insorfaras that the hostile Colombo press, though unwillingly, praises the effectiveness of our police force which carries out its functions in a people-friendly and disciplined manner. Going the extra mile the Tamil Eelam police force is functioning with a sense of patriotism and humanitarian values. I am really proud of this achievement. Our Police force, not confining itself to maintenance of law and order, goes further to create an environment conducive to the progressive growth of the society. It is engaged in activities that contribute towards removing false values, wrong notions and inappropriate practices and rites, inappropriate to developing time. I appreciate the growth of this magnitude whole-heartedly.
I hereby extend my best wishes and whole-hearted support to the growth and extension of the Tamileelam Police service on this auspicious day of the ceremonial inauguration of Tamileelam Police Head Quarters. I also take this opportunity to congratulate the Chief of the Police, the young men and women who form this service and the liberation fighters who have contributed tirelessly with commitment for the magnificent growth of the Tamil Eelam Police force." Mr.SP Tamilselvan, Head of the Political wing of the LTTE, Mr. Pottu amman, Col.Theepan, Col.Balraj, Col.Sornam, Sea tiger commander Col.Soosai, Col.Banu, Col. Jeyam, Col.Vithusha and Col.Thurka also participated in this ceremonial opening presided over by Mr.P.Nadesan, Chief of Tamil Eelam Police.
