LTTE and Muslim representatives form committees in Trincomalee
Joint action to foster good relations
Following a discussion the Trincomalee LTTE Commandant Col. Pathuman and the Trincomalee LTTE Political Wing Head Thilak had with the Muslim representatives of Trincomalee District, it has been proposed to take steps to reorientate and build up good relations between Muslims and Tamils of the District and thereby foster and promote the goodwill that is widely noticeable. In agreement with a proposal to launch a plan of action, committees have been formed with combined representation of the LTTE and the Muslims of the District to work in sensitive areas like Kinniya, Mutur, Kuchchveli, Nilaveli and Thopur. Each committee is comprised of four members, two of them representing the LTTE and the rest representing the Muslims of the area concerned. The primary task of these committees will be to resolve conflicts wherever they prevail and to appease tensions wherever it tends to appear. To restore peace and amity and to upkeep harmonious and healthy relations these committees would help grow better understanding so as to halt conflict tendencies.
