A Christmas display in VanniA 2008 Christmas display with verses from the Bible, pictured below, in an Udayarkaddu church in the Mullaithivu Districtaptly aptly portrays the current situation facing the people in Vanni. The display and its messages are clearly intended by its creators in this church to be a hopeful message of Christmas for the suffering people of Vanni.
These verses in the Bible that so correctly portrays the Vanni situation is worth reflecting about. Translation of the verses: 1.Neither fear nor lose hope seeing this massive military. This is not your war. This is God’s war. 2.The misery we are suffering today cannot be compared to the great heights that we will achieve in the future. 3.You will cry and mourn. The world will rejoice that. You will be saddened by it. But your misery will transform into great joy. 02 January 2009
