
Seventh Anniversary Celebrations of Unceasing Waves - 1 Victory
On 19th July 1996, the LTTE staged a massive military strike on the Mullaitiv Army Base and conquered. This proved to be a decisive victory and an event which influenced history thereafter. The seventh anniversary of this momentous victory was celebrated in Mullaitivu on 19 of July 2003.
The celebrations began with a guard of honour and parade by the Charles Anthony wing of the LTTE. Deputy head of the political wing of the LTTE, Mr. S. Thangan , lit the auspicious flame and Col. Soosai, special commander of the sea tigers, hoisted the national flag of Tamil Eelam. Col. Vidhusha, leader of the Malathy Special Forces lit the victory flame. Black Sea Tiger cadres who achieved martyrdom in the battle at Mullaitivu were then honoured. Numerous dignitaries including Father James Pathinathar participated and addressed the gathering.
Mullaitivu Fishermen's Co-operative presented a memorial shield to the Tamil National Leader and it was accepted by Col. Soosai.
