Kilinochchi hospital sustains severe damages by SLA shelling
Continuous shelling, particularly the shells fired on Thursday 25 December, caused extensive damages to the still functioning Kilinochchi District Hospital and put the life of the staff and patients at the hospital at risk.

Though parts of the hospital had shifted with the people to other centers in Kilinochchi some services remained due to shortage of space elsewhere. Especially the outpatient clinic continues to function in Kilinochchi. Recently SLA has indiscriminately shelled and bombed hospitals in Vanni without attracting any condemnation from the international observers. Mullaithivu hospital had been damaged by SLA shelling over the last few days, in one instance injuring two of the employees.
