LTTE Political Affairs Committee Commences Second Study Tour
The LTTE's Political Affairs Committee began the second of their study tours last weekend. The members of the committee gathered in to the German capital to be met by representatives of the Berghof Foundation for Conflict Studies, who have organised the tour in conjunction with the LTTE Peace Secretariat. The trip, which is to encompass Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain, began in Berlin.
On the first day of the tour, the team visited the Bundestag, the German parliament, where they received a guided tour and an introduction to the practicalities of the federal structure in Germany. The next day was spent taking in lectures by Ms. Renate Reiter, who spoke of the federal structures in the four countries covered in the trip and compared aspects of their systems. On the third day, the committee visited the German Federal Foreign Ministry before heading to the Bundesrat, or second chamber for a discussion on the role of that house. The day concluded with a tour of the political sights around Berlin.
