LTTE's Planning and Development Secretariat operationalThe Planning and development secretariat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) based in Kilinochchi has begun its operations today, 1st January 2004. In its first operational meeting Mr.Tamilselvan, Head of the Political Wing, Mr. Thuyavan, the Director of the Planning and Development Secretariat, Dr.Jay Maheswaran, Economic Advisor to the LTTE and the Senior Advisor to the Planning and Development Secretariat preside over the meeting. Director of the SIHRN( Secretariat for Immediate Humanitarian and Rehabilitation needs), Mr. Selvin Irenius and heads of the locally functioning NGOs and LTTE administrative unit were presented.
The Secretariat will set LTTE's policy guidelines and strategies for the development needs of NorthEast Sri Lanka.
