
Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative meets Tamilselvan
Mr. Bjarni Vestmann, Minister Councellor at the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with S.P.Tamilselvan, Head of the LTTE Political Wing around 11.00am today, 2nd October 2007 at the political head quarters in Kilinochchi.
 The meeting was focused on the current situation in the Tamil homeland. Mr. Tamilselvan briefed the humanitarian situation in the Tamil homeland and the ongoing military offensives, which has made hundreds of thousands people homeless in the east and which is now focusing on the North. He also explained the violations of human rights and humanitarian laws, including extra judicial killings, shelling, aerial bombings, arbitrary arrests, abductions and hundreds of disappearances, committed by the Armed forces of the Government of Sri Lanka and its allied paramilitaries. Tamilselvan explained how the daily lives of the people in LTTE administered areas are affected by the economic blockade and the aerial bombing of the SLAF. The Political Head asserted that the Government of Sri Lanka had fully given up the Cease fire Agreement. Mr. S. Puleedevan, Secretary General of the Peace Secretariat also participated in the meeting with Mr. Bjarni Vestmann, a former Icelandic representative to NATO.
