Damages in aerial bombing of coastal areas of Mullaithivu
On Sunday 30 March Sri Lanka Air Force bombarded the coastal areas of Mullaithivu around 12.45pm causing extensive damages to the property and resources of the fishing community.
Equipment used by the fishermen that are usually left on the shores sustained damages. These fishing equipments are used for fishing near the shores. The fishermen restrict themselves to fishing near the shores due to constant attacks from the Sri Lankan Navy in the deep seas. The damages to their equipment used in coastal fishing are now preventing the owners from even doing coastal fishing. Many of the bombs dropped on Sunday near the coast also fell into the sea and exploded killing large number of fishes. These dead fishes have now washed ashore.
