
Independence day is to be observed as a black day and day of morning
Resolution by people's Organisations in the Jaffna peninsula
The People's Organisations in the Jaffna District have passed a resolution to observe February 4th 2004 as a black day and day of mourning. Sri Lanka completes its 55th year of independence and enters its 56th year on that day when the communal ruler ship have deprived the Tamils of their rights and denied their legitimate claims ever since the grant of independence. Hence the people's organisations in the peninsula have jointly passed a resolution to observe February 4th as a black day and day of mourning .In accordance with this resolution it has been announced that there would be black flags throughout the length and breadth of the peninsula as a mark of black day and the observance of mourning.
