
Civilian settlements in Batticaloa comes under SLA shelling
One civilian was killed; five were injured including 2 women and a child; and three houses were completely damaged in the shelling from Kalkuda, Pillaiyaradi, and Saththurukkondan Sri Lankan military camps. The shelling continued from day before yesterday at 4.00 pm till yesterday 8.00 am.
 The settlements that came under attack are shown in the map with numbers. Aryithiyamalai,(1) Iluppdichenai(2), Nellikadu(3), Paththaraikkaddai(4), Mankikaddu(5), Navatkadu(6), Kurinchamaunai(7), Kalkuda(8), Kajanmadu(9), and Paruthichenai(10) are the settlements came under heavy attack by the Sri Lankan armed forces. Most of the people caught in this shell attack sought safety in bunkers and in the forest. Sekari aged 45, Anusha aged 7, Rangini aged 30, Jeyakumar aged 18, and Sothy aged 40 were injured when the shells hit their homes.
