Four college students killed and eight injured in Sri Lankan military revenge killing
For college students from a tertiary Agriculture School in Thandikulam Vavuniya were killed when Sri Lankan military entered the school and opened fire at random in revenge for a claymore attack on their truck.
The students at the hostel belonging to the school were lined and shot on Saturday morning. Among the dead students are three Tamils and one Muslim. Another eight students were seriously wounded. Eye witness said that the students pleaded the military not to shoot them because they were students. The four dead students are, Atchuthan and Rizwan Mohamed from Batticaloa, Gopinath from Trincomalee, and Sinthujan of Vavuniya. The injured students are: S Sivajini (F, 23) from Temple Road, K Ambiha (F, 24) of Karaveddi and Kumuthini Mahadevan (F, 21) all three from Jaffna; K Vimalini (F, 22) and S Rushani both from Skandapuram in Kilinochchi; Sinnarasa Lohanathan (M, 28) from Santhasolai in Vavuniya; R Rajini (F, 23) from Mulliyavalai in Mullaithivu; R M Navsath from Pulmoddai, I Unithat (M) and Yute all three from Trincomalee; Five of the seriously injured students, Sivajini, Rajini, Rushani, Yute, and Kumuthini were transferred to Anuradhapuram hospital.
