Spin doctoring by the Government of Sri Lanka disparages the humanitarian work of UN agencies

On 13 December Sri Lankan State media claimed that its security forces found temporary roofing material supplied to the displaced people by the UN agencies used by the LTTE for its bunkers in Vaharai.

This is false. It is child’s play to throw some roofing material supplied by UN agencies over a bunker and take photographs. This is a well planned spin doctoring by the GoSL.

This spin doctoring by the GoSL state media disparages the emergency relief work of the UN agencies for the displaced in Vaharai. Due to the blockade by the GoSL, the displaced people in Vaharai have had only very limited access to humanitarian agencies for several months now. The latest spin doctoring by the GoSL is clearly aimed at disturbing even this limited access given by the UN agencies to the displaced in Vaharai.

LTTE wishes express shock and dismay that the GoSL is determined to disrupt the very essential humanitarian work in the Tamil homeland.
