Jaffna conditions creeping into Mannar
In its latest attempt at intensifying its military offensives against civilian settlements in the GoSL controlled parts of Mannar, the Sri Lankan military ordered all public transport services to cease operating by 5.30 pm, effective from Monday.
It is well known that the vast majority of the civilians in this area use public transport to travel anywhere. This order effectively places a curfew after 5.30pm. This smacks of the manner in which Jaffna civilians are controlled, with curfews, and death squads, described by almost all observers as an open prison.
