Sri Lankan military destroys civilians houses to expand their camp in Eechchilampattu
Sri Lankan military has destroyed more than 30 houses in Eechchilampattu in order to expand their military base.
70 families of Eechchilampattu in Verugal in the Trincomalee district have been living in the next village of Sinnakulam. 40 of these families are in their relative’s houses and 30 of them are in temporary shelters. These people were blocked by the Sri Lankan military from resettling in their own village- Eechchilampattu. People of this area said that their children future is being ruined without education. They could not go anywhere as SLA has blocked the streets. They said that they have lost their livelihood and are forced to rely only on relief handouts. Their living condition now is similar to those living in the streets they said.
