One civilian killed in Sri Lanka military shelling in Mannar
One civilian was killed and two were injured in Sri Lanka military shelling in Mannar.
Vinayagar Selvakumar was killed around 11.00am yesterday, 27 July 2008, in Thevanpiddy in Mannar when he was hit by Sri Lanka military artillery. Two more civilians, R Komes and A Nanthan were injured in the same shelling. People had already started to move out of Thevanpiddy due to shelling by Sri Lanka military. The three victims were in the process of removing their belongings when they were hit by the artillery. This and several other incidents of shelling and shooting of civilians remaining in some areas where most of the residents had already moved out, demonstrates the justified fear of the civilians to the invading military.
