TNA legislators meet with Tamil National Leader Prabaharan
In a land mark meeting today 20th April 2004 in Kilinochchi all the 22 Tamil elected representatives of the NorthEast had discussions with Mr. Veluppillai Prbaharan, Leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
Mr. Prabaharan, at the outset, thanked the Tamil people for having conveyed to the whole world the cardinal message that the Liberation Tigers are their authentic representatives. He further said that over 17 000 martyrs have, through their sacrifice and commitment, provided us this opportunity and the political space for us to win back our lost rights. Petty differences, he said, have all been sunk in the larger freedom perspective and the Tamil nation standing together with one voice, gives me immense pleasure. Continuing further, he said, it is only the lack of unity within us that provided our oppressors the opportunity to divide us. The recent fiasco in Batticaloa-Amparai is a typical example, he said, of disunity and its repercussions. Reiterating the fact, he said, that the resolution too was quick enough because of the resolute faith the people of Batticaloa-Amparai and the cadres there had in the leadership and their unstinted co-operation. This victory, Mr. Prabaharan said, has proved that differences on cast, religion, regionalism etc, are not going to create dissension among the people. Touching on a sentimental note, he said that it is appropriate for every one of us to have a look at the memorial tombs of our martyrs, all of which speak a language of selflessness. From this, he emphasized that we all should learn to prioritise common welfare and give up selfish motives when it comes to Tamil national upliftment and freedom. In conclusion he said that it is the Tamil people's strength and unity that can bring about lasting peace and solicited the unstinted support of the legislators to take forward the Tamil struggle. Associated with the National leader in the discussion today were Mr. S. P. Tamilselvan, Head of the Political Wing, Intelligence Chief Pottu, Col. Sornam, Tamil Eelam Police Chief P. Nadesan, Finance Chief Thamilenthy, Col. Vithusa, Col. Thurga, Deputy Political Head Mr. Thangan, Head of Women Political Wing Miss. Thamilini and all the District Political Heads. Following this, Mr. P. Chandraseharan MP, Leader of Upcountry People's Front and Mr. Mano Ganesan MP, Leader of Western Province People's Front met with the Tamil National Leader.
