Tamil homeland remembers the third anniversary of the tsunami
Today is the third anniversary of the tsunami that tragically devastated many countries in the world including Tamil Eelam. The national dailies and other media in Tamil Eelam are filled with pictures, songs and memories of the loved ones taken away by the tsunami. Events are being held in many parts of Tamil Eelam to mark the day.
This is a typical page, among several pages, in the national dailies, that carried the memories of the loved ones taken away by the tsunami.
On the 2004 Boxing Day morning the tragic tsunami hit the eastern coasts of Tamil Eelam killings thousands and wiping out the infrastructure of entire communities. Although the world sympathy and resources poured out to help the tsunami devastated people everywhere, the inadequacy of tsunami reconstruction in Tamil Eelam is well known. World’s assistance to the people of Tamil Eelam was blocked by the Sri Lankan Government as part of its ongoing genocide of the Tamil people.
