“Hell with JVP and talk to Tigers; else LTTE’s next move won’t be a pleasant one”
Former SL Air Chief tells government “Hell with JVP and start talking to Tigers; else the move that the LTTE may take in a couple of weeks will not be that pleasant to us. Nobody would blame the Tigers” said Air Vice Marshall Harry Gunatilaka, former Sri Lankan Air Force commander in an interview with the AFP.
In a forthright, hard-hitting but realistic assessment, the former Air Chief continued that the ball is now in the government court. Should war recommence, Mr. Gunatilaka continued, nobody will blame the tigers nor would anybody come to our help and it is very essential that the government realize this ground reality. “It appears that the United Stats, Japan, Norway and the EU who were all supportive of the peace process are now beginning to subtly move away and may even apportion the blame on the government” emphasized the former Air Chief . In a realistic and pragmatic sense, he said, the government should say hell to the JVP and start talking to the Tigers immediately. Failing to do this, the Air Chief said, the LTTE’s intended moves within the next couple of weeks may be very unpleasant to all of us.
