LTTE delegation met with Nobel Peace Committee Chairman
In the second leg of the European tour Mr. S.P. Tamilselvan met with Prof. Ole D. Mjøs. Gerd Bjørhovde, University of Tromsø, Chairman of the Nobel Peace Committee today the 31st January 2004.
Afternoon Mr. S.P. Tamilselvan met with Professors. Signe Annie Sønvisen, Professor Bjørn Hersoug, Jens Revold, Helmut Krane and the staff in the Norwegian College of fishery Science. Mr. Tamilselvan briefed on the current political crisis in the south and explained in detail the various problems the fishing community in the NorthEast is subjected to.
The Director flashed back to the year 1993 when the late Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna, Dr. Thurairajah initiated a program of cooperation with their College of Fisheries. And it was decided to reactivate it and make arrangement to initiate a program of exchanging students. We are all keenly interested in peace process being taken forward without further delay so that urgent humanitarian problems of the people could be addressed with the help of the international community.
