
Sri Lankan armed forces and its allied paramilitaries continue to target civilians
Sri Lankan armed forces and its allied paramilitary have been deliberately targeting civilians in Tamil homeland. According to the recorded information 1881 civilians have been killed by the SLA and its paramilitaries and more than 881 civilians went missing after arrested or abducted in the first seven month of this year. Government of Sri Lankan Armed forces and its paramilitaries are the whole responsible people for what is happening to the Tamil people in the NorthEast.
The killings and abductions have been on the increase especially in the Jaffna peninsula. These killings are intended to terrorise the Jaffna people and to suppress all possible resistance against the military oppression headed by the current Jaffna SLA Commander Chandrasiri Fernando. As an year passed with the closure of A-9 high way, civilians in Jaffna not only face immense humanitarian suffering, but also live in fear of the killings and abductions. The closure of the A-9 Highway and denying the humanitarian access for civilians is a total violation of the international human rights and humanitarian laws by the Government of Sri Lanka. - woman killed, 10 seriously injured Sri Lankan Air Force war planes bombs a civilian bus at Paddikudiyiruppu in Nedunkerni in Vavuniya district. A woman was killed on the spot and 10 civilian were seriously injured.
A civilian bus was bombed when it was carrying civilians in Paddikudiyiruppu around 6.40 am today. Ariyaratnam Subajini aged 20 from Thunukkai was seriously injured and succumbed to her injuries while she was taken to the hospital. Katkulam GTMS School was badly damaged in the bombardment. Katkulam MPCS building and rice mill were also completely destroyed in the aerial attack.
SLAF bombers have been targeting civilians deliberately and so far killed more than hundred civilians including women and children. Killings shock Kaithadi, SLA deliberately target and kill civilians in Jaffna Sri Lanka Army and paramilitary in Thenmaraadchi, Jaffna, have shot and killed seven civilians since Sunday noon. Four civilians, including a Village Officer (GS) were killed on 13th August in Jaffna. Two civilians were shot dead on 8th August in Kaithadi by the Sri Lanka Army. Two civilians were killed in Meesaalai and one in Varani in Thenmaraadchi on Monday. Meanwhile, a Jaffna Municipal Council employee was shot and killed by the SLA in Jaffna city. SLA shot and seriously injured an employee of Jaffna Municipal Council (JMC), K. Thevarasa, 28, in front of Jaffna St. Patric's College Monday morning around 6:00 a.m. Two SLA men on motor cycle, who waylaid Thevarasa, shot and seriously injured him while he was cycling to his work. The victim, a resident of Rajasingham Veethi, Thirunakar, succumbed to his injuries at Jaffna Teaching hospital. Retired Grama Sevaka officer, K Chelliah, 65, was shot and killed at this house in Kaithadi at 11:00 a.m. today by SLA and paramilitary. Tension prevails in Kaithadi where SLA also burnt down a house. In the third incident in Kaithadi East, Jeyathaas Ruban, a father of two, was shot and killed Monday morning by four Sri Lanka Army intelligence operatives in civil clothes riding in motorcycles. In Varani in Thenmaraadchi another civilian was shot and killed today by the SLA. Detail of this killing is not available.
On Sunday, SLA arrived at the house of Thambyaiyah Chandramohan, 30, in Kaithadi south, gunned him down on 12th August around 6:30 p.m. Two civilians were killed by the SLA on 8th August. Another civilian was seriously injured today in a separate shooting incident by the SLA around 12:15 p.m. on Kankeasanthurai (KKS) Road. The victim was identified as Sinnaraasa Vijayasingham, 30. Sinnarasa is from Velanai 6 Division. Another family man shot dead in Naavaanthurai, Jaffna SLA riding a motorbike shot and killed a middle aged family man Sunday morning at 6:45 a.m. in Naavaanthurai within Jaffna Municipal council area. The victim was identified as Pedurupillai Jesuthasan, 40, a business man. The SLA and paramilitary called out for the victim to come out of the house and shot him when he responded.
Jesuthasan was seriously injured and was taken to Jaffna Teaching hospital. He succumbed to his injuries at 8:00a.m, in hospital.
