Special Task Force presses on Tamils to sell their houses to the forces
The special Task Force at Oorani in Poththuvil Division are pressing on the owners of the houses, presently used as camps, to sell the these houses to the forces. The security forces are camping in 18 houses belonging to Tamils in Oorani. The Special Task Force, who are refusing to pay the due rent for these houses, are pressing on the owners to sell out the houses to them.
This was brought to the attention of the Member of Parliament Mr. Ariyanayagam Chandra Nehru last September. Consequent to this Mr. Nehru promptly took this matter to the Prime minister. Subsequently the forces gave up pressing on the Tamils in this regard.
The army men are paying much attention to own Tamils houses and also threatening the house owners. The people concerned have again brought this matter for attention. They complain that this type of atrocities of the forces are with the ulterior motive of ousting the residents from their ancestral soil, and the residents have submitted a memorandum to their Member of Parliament to this effect.
