UN’s World Food Program (WFP) impressed by student leadership at school
WFP praised the student leadership at Sri Vigneswara Vidhyalayam School in Kilinochchi after visiting the school to observe the WFP program to provide lunch for school students.
WFP commended the involvement of the students outside the school hours to implement the WFP program in their school. WFP observed that in most schools it is the teachers who are in charge of purchase, preparation and distribution of lunch to the school students. In Sri Vigneswara Vidhyalayam School it is the students who are in charge of running the scheme which impressed the staff of the Kilinochchi branch of the WFP. The principal of the school, K Gnanaseelan, said that three student working groups each with ten students have been created to implement the WFP program at his school.
