
Clergy lead protest in Kilinochchi for protection of civilians
A large protest march, lead by catholic clergy, took place in Kilinochchi, yesterday, demanding protection for the civilians.
 The march started at 10.30pm from the Kilinochchi Catholic church and ended at the Kilinochchi office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The placards carried by the people demanded,
“Let the people live in their homes”,
“International community, have you not heard our pleas”,
“Government, do not make food into a weapon” and
“Government, do not make medicine into a weapon”.
A memorandum was handed to the representative of UNHCR by the protesting people.
