Sea confrontation in VadamaradchyA naval confrontation between a sea tiger unit and a team of Sri Lankan navy boats took place between Valvettithurai and Point Pedro this evening, (Sunday). Beginning around 3.45 this afternoon, the clash lasted for about three hours. The Sri Lankan naval personnel manning a freighter triggered off the confrontation by firing upon the sea tiger unit, the Sea Tiger sources say.Sri Lankan artillery units, air force Kfir bombers and helicopter gun-ships were brought to the assistance of the Sri Lankan navy boats. One Sea Tiger was killed in the action according to LTTE naval command for the Vadamaradchy region.
