Remove security posts
People of Ariyalai and Nedunkulam demand People belonging to areas in close proximity to Ariyalai and Nedunkulam security zones urge the Jaffna District Commandant of the Sri Lankan Security Forces to remove security posts in the area to enable the people to resettle in their native places. The people's organizations have placed their representations for the District Commandant to remove the security structures and restore the normal environment to facilitate the people of the area to resettle. The security forces have been aggressively occupying these highly residential areas for the last eight years. Even in the present ceasefire environment they are reluctant to clear the area of the so-called security zones and meet the urgent need of the people to resettle in their own land premises. Due to the unduly prolonged stay of the security forces more than two hundred and fifty families are distressed for want of congenial shelters and regular vocations. Under these circumstances the people's organizations are pressing the District Security Commandant to terminate the overstay of forces and redress the grievances of the rightful inhabitants by permitting them to resume their residences and their appeal concludes with an ultimatum that there would be a protest squatting on the Jaffna -Kandy highway leading to a stoppage of traffic until such time they are responded to favorably.
