People from Usan are to Protest against the Sri Lankan Military
People from Usan have decided to stage protests against the Sri Lankan military which is occupying their homes and lands. Preparations are under way for the planned protests. People of Usan have been requesting for more than a year that their homes and lands should be vacated. Nothing has changed even after meetings with the military leaders. They have therefore taken the decision to stage protests.
The people who have taken and announced this decision are from the Ramanathan Mahavidhyalam area. They say that they have decided to stage a sit in protest in front of the Chavakachcheri district secretariat on August 5th, unless the Sri Lankan military vacates their homes and lands before that. People have sent fifteen open letters with signatures to, the Jaffna military commander, the Human Rights Commission, Chavakachcheri District Office, the Tamil parliamentarians, Student Federation of Tamileelam, and the SLMM.
