Attack on SLA vehicle by unidentified group
LTTE Press releaseIt is reported that Kalkuda military Commander’s vehicle was subject to a grenade attack by unidentified persons at 1100am today 8th November 2004 near Pethalai Jetti in Kalkuda. The LTTE has nothing to do with this attack.
This incident has taken place in an area fully under the control of SL forces. In our periodical meetings with the Sri Lankan Military in Vavunativu we have reiterated the necessity to curb such mischievous actions and bring to book real culprits who are obviously engaged in a program of disrupting the peace process. By targeting the SL Military these disruptive elements hope to create tension and thereby recommence a war situation. The LTTE is fully committed to the Cease Fire Agreement and in that process engaged meaningfully in a process of dialogue with the military in Batticaloa, Amparai District. We therefore strongly condemn this type of attack and call upon the SL forces to be vigilant in identifying and apprehending the elements responsible for this type of provocative attacks.
