Three civilians shot and killed one injured by the SLA in Jaffna
A former student leader of Jaffna University was brutally killed by the SLA and paramilitary in Jaffna around 5.00am on 1st August. Nilakshan Sahadevan aged 24 was shot and killed at his house.
Nilakshan is a student of the Media Resource Centre of the Jaffna University. This comes after three youth were shot and wounded earlier, within 24 hours: A civilian was shot and killed in Manipay. Thampimuththu Atputharajah aged 42, father of two children was shot and killed by the SLA and paramilitary at his house in Manipay around 10.30 am on 31stt July. In another incident a three-wheeler driver was shot killed by the SLA and it’s paramilitary at Navalar road around 11.15 am yesterday. The victim has been identified as Vadivelu Santhirapirabu 32 from Annasaththira lane kantharmadam. SLA was checking Utahan office junction and Iluppayadi junction in Navalar road when this killing occurred.
Another civilian was shot and wounded by the SLA in Adiyapatham road in Jaffna. Two children abducted by Karuna group in Batticaloa Two school children were abducted by armed Karuna group members in SLA uniform in Batticaloa. Pakiarajah Jegatheeswaran aged 16 and Varathan Ramkumar aged 16 were abducted a 200 meters away from Kalliankadu welfare centre around 1.00pm on 31st July. Their families were displaced from Pallikudiyiruppu, Sampur areas and settled in Kalliyankadu welfare centre in Batticaloa
