
SLA artillery fire hits pregnant woman - eight month fetus aborts and dies
An eight month fetus aborted on the spot and died when Sri Lanka artillery fire hit a pregnant woman. Two more people, a father and his 10 year old daughter also died on the spot. The mother of the killed fetus also died after she was taken to the hospital bringing the total killed to three.
A further eight people including four children were injured. The injured are receiving treatment at the Pallamadhu hospital seven Kilomerters from the location of the incident. Two of the injured children are in very serious condition. The incident occurred in Periyamdhu in the Mannar district. Today, remembrance events, for the 21 Black Tigers, who died in the Anuradhapuram Sri Lankan Air Force Base attack, are taking place throughout Vanni. Sri Lanka military fired shells into one such gathering in Periyamadhu in the Mannar district. However, the artillery failed to hit the event and fell on the nearby civilian settlement causing death and injuries. Most of the dead are from two houses that were hit by the artillery.
