
Deadly Sunday
With increasing frequency and deliberateness the artillery fire of the SLA is being directed at the dense IDP population within the area marked in the map. This is forcing the IDPs to move further into this area thus further increasing the density of the IDP population.
 The artillery fire on Sunday was the worst in recent times and they were directed on the IDPS in Tharmapuram, Theravil, and Sundikulam where displacing IDPs in Vadamaradchi East were arriving. Around 1.00pm the Theravil West IDP population came under attack. Ten IDPs including a toddler were injured, six of them seriously. The six seriously injured victims admitted to the displaced Kilinochchi hospital are,

1.Rameshkumar Sanjeevan, male child aged 2
2.Mariathas Anthony, male aged 85,
3.Ponnamah, female aged 75,
4.Selvarasa Tharsika, female aged 17,
5.A Piramilan, male aged and
6.17, M Shanmugalingam, male aged 35,
Around 4.30pm artillery hit Piramanthanaa'ru injuring to four IDPs.
Artillery fire on Vaddakachchi injured woman aged 75.
In the meantime IDPs displacing from Vadamaradchi east and attempting to arrive at Sundikulam by the sea lagoon were targeted by the land, air and sea forces of Sri Lanka causing massive injuries. More than 40 IDPs are reported to have sustained injuries.
