
Norwegian Special Envoy Meets with LTTE
Norwegian Special Envoy to Sri Lanka, Mr. Erik Solheim and a team comprising of other Norwegian diplomatic personnel and SLMM officials arrived in Killinochchi today (08/05/2003) and met with senior members of the LTTE's political and military wings. The visiting delegation was welcomed by Dr. Anton Balasingam and the meeting commenced at 10.30 am.

LTTE delegation comprised of Dr. Anton Balasingam, Mr. S.P. Tamilselvan, Col. Soosai, Col. Bhanu, Col. Theepan, Mrs. Adele Balasingam and Dr. Jay Maheshwaran. The LTTE position on the suspension of peace talks and the necessity for the Government of Sri Lanka to implement agreements reached to date were clearly explained to Mr. Eric Solheim and the delegation. Prior to the meeting, the visiting delegation undertook a tour of the Vocational Training Centre for Women and Computer Training Centre for Under Privileged Students.
They had a chance to meet those learning these skills first hand and interacted with them. They also visited an Elderly citizen's home in Killinochchi.
After lunch, the delegation returned to Colombo.
