Four thousand displaced still without adequate shelters
More than four thousand people displaced from Madhu and Manthai West in Mannar due to Sri Lanka military shelling are presently staying in Kaneshapuram and Vellankulam in Mannar. These families are yet to receive adequate shelters. They are living under tarpaulins and are facing enormous hardship.
Counseling sessions for the children among these displaced people were recently conducted by the village well-wishers with assistance from the World Vision organization. Many of these children were in the bus that came under a Sri Lankan military claymore attack near the Madhu church on 29 January. Twenty people including thirteen children were killed in this claymore attack.
