LTTE returns youngsters to the transit center
Fifteen youngsters who enrolled themselves submitting false particulars especially of their age to join the LTTE cadres have been detected to be under aged following routine action taken by P. Kanthamman, Head of the Special Committee appointed by the LTTE Peace Secretariat.
This is the second number of youngsters returned to the transit centre since the appointment of the special committee last month. These youngsters have been handed over to the Transit Centre organized and managed by the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization in cooperation with the UNICEF for a three-month period of observation and to rehabilitate. The rehabilitation would proceed either by way of educating them to return to their parents or by facilitating them to learn a trade to develop their skills to earn their living. In the case of the youngsters reluctant to rejoin their parents, caretaking would be extended until such time they are of age or deemed matured enough to be independent.
