1612 violations of killing and injuring during November to January
Security Council resolution 1612 about children affected by armed conflict (CAAC) mandates six violations against children to be monitored in the countries where there is an on going conflict. Killing and injuring children are to of the six violations. Special representative of the UN Secretary General for CAAC regularly issues reports about the six violations.
In the past reports of violations by the GoSL forces have not been thoroughly documented by the UN report. Inability to verify the violations has often been cited by the UN bodies for this omission. It is well known that the GoSL forces bars international agency staff from visiting locations where such violations have taken place. Invariably these violations are not reported because of inability to verify. The following instances of killing and injuring children took place in the months of November, December and January. Therefore they should all be reported in the current reporting period of 1612. These have been submitted by Child Protection Authority (CPA) in Kilinochchi to the 1612 task force for the Island of Sri Lanka.
