It is OK for GoSL to use indiscriminate shelling
In a single day, on 11 May, civilians living all along the borders of the area administered by the LTTE came under the indiscriminate shelling of the Sri Lankan military.
Vadamaradchi east came under 24 hours of indiscriminate artillery shelling by the military stationed in the Nagarkovil military camp. Civilians including children in the villages of Uduthurai, Aliyavalai and Vetrilaikerni are spending entire nights in mud trenches. Shells also exploded in the villages of Mamunai, Chempianpatru, Thalayadi, Maruthankerni and Vatththirayan in this area. Houses, public buildings and trees were damaged by the exploding shells. Some of the public buildings that were damaged are warehouses of non-government organization storing material used for humanitarian work. A similar indiscriminate shelling from the military stationed in Manalaru is targeting the civilian settlements in Nayaru south of Mullaithivu. The visiting Assistant Secretary of State for US Richard Boucher, however, did not notice these indiscriminate shelling of Tamil villages by the Sri Lankan military.
