
Victims of SLA attacks over last week
On 2 November, Uruthrapuram in Kilinochchi came under heavy artillery fire and more than 25 livestock were killed. People have started to displace from this area. Sivanagar School in Uruthrapuram is recording very poor attendance.
On 3 November, two brothers, Nadanasabapathy Kasinathan aged 30 and Nadanasabapathy Ilakkunanathan aged 36, each lost one of their limps when they were hit by exploding artillery fire from the SLA camps in Manalaru. Both brothers are receiving treatment at the Mullaithivu hospital. The brothers were herding their cows in Mulliyavalai when the attack occurred. Livestock were also killed in this artillery fire. Over the last few days, Mulliyavalai settlements are coming under continuous artillery fire of SLA in Manalaru camps. Murippu Tamil Vidhyalam in Mulliyavalai also displaced due to shelling. On 3 November, an artillery shell exploded just in front of a bus belonging to the Tamillelam Transport Service, full of passengers, going from Vaddakachchi to Kilinochchi. After the incident, the bus detoured and reached Kilinochchi by first going to Murasumoddai and then through the Paranthan road to Kilinochchi. On 4 November, around 6.00pm, Sri Lanka Air Force bombed Mulliyan in Vadamaradchi East area injuring two civilians, Alvar Uthayakumar aged 42 and Nallaih Sivagnanam aged 43. Livestock were also killed. On 5 November, at 8.30am, a fifty yea old woman, Poopalasingam Pakialadchmi, was killed when the tractor she was traveling came under SLA claymore attack in Periyamadu area in Nedunkerni.
