Child Protection Authority (CPA) today released a report on the Padahuthurai Kfir attack on 2 January that killed 15 people including seven children among whom are several very small children.
CPA believes that the incident should have touched the heart of humanity for the high percentage of children killed in this attack. This is more so when viewed against the response of the Sri Lankan military, whose spokesperson said that they attacked only an LTTE position and, “it is well known that LTTE keeps children in its bases”. CPA hopes that the report will urge the child rights bodies to launch a concerted campaign against aerial bombardments over civilian areas.
