-TNA legislators in Kilinochchi
The Tamil legislators of the TNA represent9ing the NorthEast in a meeting with Mr. S. P. Tamilselvan held today 16 November 2004, said in one voice that they have a valid mandate from the Tamil people to actively support the LTTE in matters connected with institutionalising the ISGA and taking forward the peace process towards final resolution of the protracted Tamil national crisis.
During the discussion between Mr.Tamilselvan and TNA legislators All MPs representing the Tamil National Alliance participated in this meeting that lasted for about three hours. After lengthy deliberations with the Head of the Political Wing the legislators said in unison that they are working relentlessly in the pursuit of creating an atmosphere conducive for early recommencement of talks. Endorsing their views and appreciating their concerns on the hardships of the people Mr. Tamilselvan countered the government version on the stalemate situation and said that the onus is now with the government to recommence negotiations and it has been the case from the day the ISGA proposals were handed to the government. It is duplicitous on the part of the government Mr. Tamilselvan said, to carry on a false propaganda both within and outside Sri Lanka that the LTTE is delaying the peace process. Complementing this position, Mr. Tamilselvan said that the LTTE delegation that toward Europe recently had effectively dispelled this myth that was propagated internationally by the GoSL. During the discussion between Mr.Tamilselvan and TNA legislators
Placing special emphasis on the urgent humanitarian needs of the people in the NorthEast Mr. Tamilselvan solicited active support from the legislators to interact with the international community to alleviate the hardships of the people who have been denied the dividends of peace in spite of two and a half years of cease fire.
