
Cultural show to mark Women's resurgence commenced in Kilinochchi
A five-day programme of cultural show to mark Women's resurgence in TamilEelam and to commemorate the 17th year of martyrdom of 2nd Lt. Malathy, the 1st woman martyr in the liberation struggle, commenced Wednesday the 6th instant at Central Grounds in Kilinochchi, with the opening of a grand exhibition depicting the bravery of women in the Tamil Nation's Struggle for liberation.
The Exhibition, organized by the Women's regiments at a grand scale and in a big way, includes illustrations and a vast range of exhibits demonstrating the gradual growth of women's involvement in the struggle and their share of achievements borne by their courage and fortitude in the erstwhile days of trials and tribulations.
The first day's agenda came to a close with an address, on the cause for women's resurgence and the need for their awareness, by Jaffna University Senior lecturer Mrs.Manonmany Shanmugathas and a drama titled 'Sun's metamorphosis into Moon' and enacted by V/Rambaikulam Girls' Maha Vidyalaya.
