Head of the NESecretariat on Human Rights meets with Head of Tamil Eelam PoliceFather M.X. Karunaratnam, President of the NorthEast Secretariat on Human Rights met with the Head of TamilEelam Police Mr Nadesan in Kilinochchi at 10am on 28th July 2004. The following, in brief, is the outcome of their discussions: 1. It was agreed that NESOHR will facilitate a family counselling centre specifically to address the needs of women and children. 2. The police will give immediate attention where necessary to the problems of women and children. 3. The Police will actively investigate any cases of missing persons. 4. Free access will be granted to NESOHR to visit prisons and to interview prisoners in private. 5. If NESOHR has any concerns regarding particular cases, their officials can refer to any police station and request an investigation. 6. The incorporation 7.
