"Sri Lanka will divide into two unless the national question is resolved on the basis of the ISGA"
If it is not possible to resolve the ethnic conflict in accordance with the LTTE draft proposal for an Interim Self-Governing Authority, it will not be possible to prevent Sri Lanka dividing into two separate entities, says the UNP parliamentarian, Mr. Milinda Moragoda at a meeting in the Natandiya Division on Monday the 27th instant.
He further said it is high time for all segments of society to make up their minds and take a good decision. Interim Proposal is nothing new. Its structure is different. J.R Jayawardana attempted for a structure in this manner in 1987. Opposition Parties protested against it but it is a well-known fact that in the very same year, when we came forward to resolve the issue through the Provincial Council System, the present President Chandrika Kumaratunga came to terms and it ended up in failure. UNP Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe too special attention with regards to the Interim Proposal but negotiations are now stalled, said Mr. Moragoda.
