
Danish Ambassador meets LTTE Political Head in Kilinochchi.
Mr. Michael Sternberg Ambassador for Denmark in New Delhi, overseeing Colombo, visited Kilinochchi Wednesday 10th September. The Ambassador was in Jaffna yesterday, meeting with Government Officials and the Jaffna University Community. From Jaffna he arrived in Kilinochchi by land and met with Mr. S.P.Thamilselvan, Head of the LTTE Political Wing in the Peace Secretariat in Kilinochchi. In this meeting that lasted for about an hour, the Ambassador familiarised himself with the progress in the Danish assisted on- going projects. The Ambassador expressed the Danish govt's willingness to extend its support to urgent humanitarian needs of the resettling population and the peace process as a whole.
 Mr. Michael Sternberg Ambassador for Denmark At the end of the meeting Mr.Thamilselvan presented the ambassador with a gift as a token of goodwill. Addressing the pressmen present after the meeting, the Ambassador mentioned that computers were presented in Jaffna to the Tamil media Organisations with a view to improve their performance.
He also expressed his desire to develop faculties for study of journalism and law. He specifically mentioned that the current disciplines in the Jaffna University do not cater to the growing needs of the society and hence his suggestion of the probable expansion of fields. The Ambassador said that he is very much interested to explore the feasibility of windmill projects combined with solar energy.

Danish Ambassador with Kurukulam children Mr. Michael Sternberg's itinerary for the rest of the day includes a visit to the TRO to assess the progress of the Danish de-mining unit. Later on he will be visiting a couple of children's homes, White Pigeon artificial limb project and a field visit to the de-mining location. Staying overnight in Kilinochchi, the Ambassador plans to visit fishing villages in Mullaittivu and meet with peasants engaged in fishing and agriculture.
