
Civilian victims of 27 December 2008 bombing and shelling by SLA
Iyakkachci and Iranaimadu areas in the Kilinochchi District, Puthukudiyiruppu (PTK) and Mullaithivu town in the Mullaithivu District saw extensive aerial bombing and shelling on Saturday 27 December 2008, resulting in the death of one 24 year old woman and injury to 15 more civilians. Among the injured are, an 18 year old woman who lost both her legs and two children.

At 9.00am, Iyakachchi, a northern village in Kilinochchi, and at 2.00pm Iranaimadu, another village in Kilinochchi, were shelled and bombed. The list of civilian victims of these attacks is listed below. The injured victims were admitted to the Thramapuram hospital. Killed:

On the same day afternoon, an ICRC assisted IDP settlement in Ward9 in PTK in Mullaithivu District was bombed twice causing panic among the recently displaced IDPs. Three civilians including two children were injured and admitted to the PTK hospital. They are: Sathyaseelan Sathyaraj, male aged 17 of Ward-9 PTK
Amirthathasan Vithusalini, female child, aged 10 years
Sevvarasa Selvaranjan, male child, aged 4 years
On the same day Mullaithivu town was also attacked by shelling causing injury to two civilians. They are:
