
Tamil civilians continue to be killed in Tamil homeland
Two Sri Lankan Government employees killed in Sri Lankan military claymore attackTwo senior employees of Agriculture Department of the Sri Lankan Government were killed and three others were injured while on duty when a Deep Penetration Unit of Sri Lankan military targeted the vehicle, belonging to the Agriculture Department, in which they were traveling. The attack happened on Friday, 05 January 2007, in the morning. The vehicle was traveling in the LTTE administered areas of Nedunkerny in the Vavuniya District.
 Tharmalingam Ganesalingam (aged 62), a recently promoted Agriculture Officer, and Vetrivel Mahendran (aged 52), an Agriculture Instructor, are the two employees who were killed. Arumukam Sithiravelautham the driver and another employee Kandasamy Kurukulasingham who are also in the vehicle were seriously injured and were brought to the Vavuniya district hospital. Sri Lankan Air Force bombs Mullaithivu villages on two successive days– two Tamil civilians seriously injured Sri Lankan Air Force dropped bombs, on Thursday morning at 7.15am, over the tsunami settlement at 6th Milepost in Alampil in the Mullaithivu district. Two Tamil civilians including a nine year old child were seriously injured and admitted to the Mullaithivu distruct hospital. They are, Mariyanayagam Nesamani (aged 61) and Muthurasa Moseis (aged 9). Again on Friday morning at 7.00am, Sri Lankan Air Force dropped a further eight bombs over the same tsunami settlements at 6th Milepost in Alampil in Mullaithivu. No one was hurt because people took quick action by seeking safe areas and lying down on the ground.
