
The Netherlands hosts LTTE delegation
"The government and the LTTE should get their tracks together and start talking again without further delay in the interest of urgent humanitarian delivery", said Mr. Robert Milders, Director Asia and Oceania Department of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a meeting with the LTTE delegation today 12th October in the Ministry complex.
 LTTE delegation with Netherland Foreign Affairs Ministry officials The LTTE delegation led by Mr. Tamilselvan presented an overview of the current political situation and made special reference to the consensus in the south on the necessity to recommence talks and emphasized that the government should make use of the opposition support and help to brake the deadlock. Mr. Milders assured the delegation that the people of The Netherlands will be always supportive of the peace process in general and the humanitarian delivery in the NorthEast. Earlier in the day the team visited the conflict research unit of The Netherlands Institute of International Relations at Clingendael, The Hague. Prof. Dr. Ir. George E. Frerks, Head Conflict Research Unit assisted by Bart Klem, Research Associate briefed the delegation on the various studies undertaken by them both the Colombo and the NorthEast and said that they will continue to with their program with a view to upgrade the peace process. The LTTE delegation also attended a meeting arranged by the Ministry of Foreigners with the Director and officials of the Environment and Water Division yesterday 11th October 2004.
