
Six civilians shot and killed within 24 hours in Vavuniya
Six civilians were shot and killed by Sri Lankan operated forces in Vavuniya yesterday, 16 January 2007. Four civilians were killed in Kurumankadu, Vavuniya. Other two civilians were shot dead when they were traveling in a three-wheeler in Archipuram, Vavuniya.
Kilairoshan Rasathurai aged 44, employee of MSF in Mannar, was killed when he was leaving from his relative’s house in Kurumankadu. Yohanathan Jeyanthan aged 28 and Antony Roobaseelan aged 26 were killed in separate locations in Kurumankadu when they were on their way to their houses from their work. Sivakumar Jesmina aged 21 was also injured in shooting of the gunmen. Another woman, Anthonippillai Ponmani aged 57 was in her home at 8.00 pm and was called out by perpetrators and shot dead. Paraparan Ramesh aged 30 and Perumal Santhirasekaran aged 25 were stopped by Sri Lankan operated forces and killed when they were traveling in a three-wheeler.
