
United Nations-OCHA Mission meets Mr.Tamilselvan.
A United Nations Office for Coordination of Human Affairs (OCHA) team comprising of Ms.Carolyn McAskie, Dep.to the Under Sec -Gen of OCHA, Mr.Miguel Bermeo, Resident Co-ordinator, United Nations, Colombo, Mr.Stevan Gleason, Desk Officer for Srilanka, OCHA, UN New York met with Mr.SP.Tamilselvan, Head of the LTTE political wing today 01st November in the political head quarters in Kilinochchi.
This Visit is a part of the UN team's familiarization programme of the Wanni. Ms. Carolyn McAskie expressed full satisfaction in the TRO's action plan for children affected by war, carried out in coordination with UNICEF.
"We are very much impressed with the transit camp and the progress made in this respect" said Ms. Carolyn McAskie on her impression of the centre after a visit in the morning. Mr.Tamilselvan provided the visitors with copies of the Interim Administration proposals which were made public in a press meet this morning at Kilinochchi.
The team expressed satisfaction on the progress made and said that they are very much encouraged by the major step taken by the LTTE. They also reiterated their commitment and support to the peace process and requested Mr.Tmilselvan to work untiringly to recommence the peace talks.
